New Churchyard Regulations

New Churchyard Regulations

A new set of Churchyard Regulations have just been published.  The new regulations apply to all consecrated burial grounds and churchyards across the diocese and replace the previous set, which had not been updated since 2003.   Our Diocesan Registry, in conjunction with our Chancellor, has worked very hard to ensure that the new rules are clearer and more helpful, taking into account a number of queries and difficulties which we have had over the last few years.  The new regulations are much longer than before, but we hope that more detailed information in specific areas will help everyone with the management of our churchyards.   For those wishing to have a new memorial in a churchyard or anyone wanting to reserve a grave space, there are also new forms to be completed.  These can be downloaded along with a copy of the new regulations from: www.gloucester.anglican.org/parish-life/church-buildings-and-churchyards/churchyards/
